The 100 cc bike was jointly launched by Avik Jyoti, chairman of NGM and Deepak Mokashi, vice-president of Hero MotoCorp.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mokashi said that though Hero motorbikes were not able to make a strong approach in the market since a couple of years, it would once again penetrate the two-wheeler market in Nepal and around the world very soon.
"Nepal is one of the potential markets for us, and thus, we will strategically move ahead here to make our presence strong," he said.
Likewise, Jyoti opined that the launch of Splendor iSmart would fulfill the need and interest of domestic riders and also would play crucial role to enhance the market share of the company.
The new two-wheeler model under Hero brand comes with i3S (Idle Stop and Start System) technology. The system, common to cars, shuts the engine while idling and turns it on when the clutch is pressed, according to the company.
Splendor iSmart is powered by a 97.2 cc air cooled, four stroke single-cylinder engine that produces 7.8 PS at 7,500 rpm and 8.04 Nm at 4,500 rpm.
"The iSmart is rider friendly and gives city commutes a comfortable experience," Jyoti claimed.
The bike comes with four speed gear-box, Telescopic Hydraulic front suspension and uses MRF tubeless tires at both front and rear. Likewise, the new Splendor is equipped with a 130 mm front drum brake and 110mm drum brake at the rear, offering ample stopping power.
The company has announced the bookings from the day of its launch itself and has said that the bike will be available at Hero's outlets across the country.
Meanwhile, the company has also launched the updated version of Hero CBZ Xtremes and Hero Pleasure Scooter amid the function.
The updated CBZ Xtremes features electronic immobilizer, a security device for engine and comes with 150cc air-cooled, four stroke single OHC engine. Likewise, the new Hero Pleasure comes with Integrated Braking System (IBS) and 100cc air-cooled Single Cylinder OHC Engine. The updated version of Xtreme and Pleasure are priced at Rs 213,500 and Rs 151,500 respectively.
