Yamaha, one of leading names in the motorcycle business, will focus on the scooter and premium bikes segment in Nepal, says Masaki Asano CEO and MD of Yamaha Motors India.
Asano, who was on his first official visit to Nepal recently, said he was particularly impressed by the growth of the scooter market in Nepal. He said that Yamaha’s focus will not only be just on delivering quality products, but also on quality costumer service.
“There is a good potential for premium and premium plus bikes also in Nepal,” he said adding that the bikes in the segment have good appeal among the youngsters.
Bishnu Kumar Agrawal, MD Morang Auto Works, the distributor of Yamaha in Nepal, informed that Yamaha currently has a 15 per cent market share and it aims to take the figure to 20 per cent within the next two-three years. “For that, Yamaha’s strategy is based on two things: youth and technology,” he said.
Yamaha recently launched the FZ-25 ‘Street Fighter’ in Nepal. According to MAW, more than 2,000 units of the new bike have been sold so far.
